Join husband and wife wedding officiants Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway and Rev. Vic Fuhrman, Sunday, June 4 at 4 PM, in Central Park for the Annual Blessings and De-Stressing of Brides and Grooms. Featuring wedding music by Venus Ensembles.
On June 4, 2006 at 4 PM Brides and Grooms of all faiths and backgrounds will gather by the Lilly Pond in the beautiful “Secret Garden,” a sacred place where hundreds of weddings are held each year.
This is a ceremony before the ceremony, to help brides and their grooms feel more relaxed, centered and confident … show them how to visualize the wedding going their way … and empower them to enjoy their big day so they can start their marriage off on the right foot.
"Couples today encounter way too much stress on their wedding planning journey," says Rev. Brockway, author of Wedding Goddess: A Divine Guide To Transforming Wedding Stress to Wedding Bliss. "We want to pull them out of the planning process for a moment and help them remember what this whole thing is all about."
Brockway and Fuhrman co-officiate the annual blessing and offer it to the couple's they are marrying, as well as any couple who would like to take part. Brides also welcome on their own if their mates are not in town.
"We like to help brides and grooms remember that the wedding is not just a big party," Brockway says. "It is a sacred event that acts as the threshold to the marriage. The wedding day will formally blend their lives, and their families, and set them of the path of the journey of marriage."
Getting ready for marriage itself can cause great anxiety. Family and friends are not always sympathetic or tuned into what the couple is going through. Only another bride or groom can truly relate.
"It's fun to gather with other brides and grooms who are on the same journey as you are."
